The Pollyanna-Oaio combo is back on track for a big tour in France and Spain. We’ve worked out a new set, with many duos. We take with us one of these trendy Ear Trumpet mics to play it the classic folk style: one mic and all musicians behind, no effect cheating. Leslie (Oaio), my brilliant French folk friend, has noticed our tour map looks a bit like the Plough constellation. In French, like in many other languages, it’s not a plough, it’s a Big Mother Bear. So we called the tour “Ursa Major” (its latin name). I love this story about a bear in the sky. It’s an old Greek myth, but it is found in many cultures, including Native Americans’. That’s why scientists think it might be a very old story, 9000 years old or more, written before humans split into various groups that peopled the earth, some of them ending up on the American continent. Our legends, better than our wars, remind us we are all related.
